When Taylor and Kyle told me about their love for art, history, and wine, I knew exactly what to do to make their engagement session experience fun and personalized. From the formal portraits to the playful painting segment, every part of this session was designed to reflect their personalities and the little things that make their relationship unique.
To start, we leaned into their vision for formal, classic photos that would complement their wedding website and save-the-dates. Knowing they loved nature but wanted a polished look, we chose a quiet park in Troy as our backdrop. The lush greenery and soft light gave the session a timeless feel, while the space allowed them to relax and enjoy the moment. I encouraged them to interact naturally, drawing out those little smiles and smirks they mentioned in their questionnaire. These portraits were all about showcasing their connection in a way that felt authentic to them.

For the second part of their session, we went with something more casual and creative—a painting activity inspired by one of their favorite date nights. After a trip to the car for a quick outfit change, we came back to the park and settled in, Watching them paint together brought out so many genuine moments of laughter and connection. Kyle’s jokes and Taylor’s artistic focus made for the perfect dynamic, and the pops of color from their canvases added a fun, personal touch to the photos. This part of the session wasn’t just about the photos we captured; it was about giving them a chance to pause, play, and enjoy being together. By incorporating an activity that had real meaning for them, we created moments that they’ll look back on as part of their engagement story—not just photos.

Getting to know my couples and translating their stories into photos is such a rewarding process, and Taylor and Kyle’s engagement session is one I’ll never forget.
