Lydia+Nate Intimate Backyard Wedding
You always remember your first, right? Well Lydia+Nate were one of my first weddings for a stranger after becoming a full time and legitimate business, and I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with. They found me through Facebook when their original wedding photographer cancelled less than 2 months before their wedding. We clicked immediately during their engagement session and are now close friends.
Lydia met Nate while working for him at Anchor Coffee Co. in Wilkesboro. They quickly became friends and bonded over sports, the gym, and obviously coffee. Nate even proposed in front of the new location they are building in Winston-Salem. So get excited for that if you are located in Winston or coming for a visit! (2022 Update: It is now open!)
It’s funny because Lydia will sometimes talk to me about what a mess their wedding day was, but it is still personally one of my favorites.
It was the perfect crisp and clear late October day. I arrived at Lydia’s parents’ house in the morning where the girls were all getting ready and where the wedding would be. After getting some detail shots of their belongings, her dress, and their funky halloween socks, the girls took some getting ready pictures. The boys were getting ready up the road at Lydia and Nate’s house.
Once everyone was ready, we all met up at Reynolda Gardens for the first look and to capture couple photos. It was actually getting pretty warm at this point, but the grounds were absolutely beautiful with it being peak fall. Then it was time for us to get back to the house so these two could get married!!!
Lydia and Nate had a quaint backyard wedding with a Unity Painting Ceremony and a small tented reception lit by string and fairy lights. Dinner was catered by Real Q BBQ with dessert from Ava’s Cupcakes. The rest of the night was filled with the usual events like the best speech I’ve ever heard from Lydia’s sister, Bella, lots of dancing, and a wonderful sparkler send off.
